Today's video is a quick winter palm update of the freeze damage to some of the exotic feather palms I grow in my North Lincolnshire tropical style jungle garden. After experiencing two extended freezes with temperatures down to -7°C (and heading into a third cold spell), it's been a testing winter for a lot of my exotic plants with some expected losses and damage. But how have the feather palms come through so far and would I still recommend planting a Phoenix canariensis, Butia odorata / eriospatha or Jubaea chilensis in your UK garden if these winters are going to be repeated? I look at the varying winter damage across the plants, how to decide which palm is right for your garden and planting tips to give your hardy feather palm the best start.
