The eastern part of the country is in the grip of severe floods. Water has flooded houses and power plants in the city. Road communication with different upazilas is cut off in Sylhet and Sunamganj. Troops have been deployed to deal with the situation. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in Sherpur and some parts of Netrokona. All the gates of the barrage have been opened due to rising water level in Teesta.
