First of a whole series of videos about #greenroofs and native dry grasslands. We can replicate the #floral #diversity of such habitats on #roofs.
This one happens to be in Greece at Cape Sounion- the southern most point of #attica. The video homes in the native wildflowers of this part of the Mediterranean. As is the case in most of my videos, #birds - the Chukar (partridge) and #wildbees also feature. There is also a reasonably friendly reptile.
I am also publishing this video on June 6th which is #worldgreenroofday #wgrd2023. WGRD is a day to celebrate making our cities #greener for both people and wildlife. Green roofs and green walls help adapt our cities to climate change and deliver for the biodiversity crisis. And biodiversity starts with the flora of our regions wherever we are in the world. A focus on native vegetation rather than tickbox off the shelf solutions should be out focus. Hence this video looks at a range of native wildflowers of the Mediterranean to inspire us to deliver on roofs across Southern Europe.
