This camera is over 100 years old… and somehow it works like a point and shoot.
In this video, I take a deep dive into a vintage folding medium format camera and actually shoot with it in the real world. No light meter, no electronics, no autofocus. I also test a custom 3D-printed lens hood, talk about the challenges of shooting with the Voightlander Bessa 66, and show the raw scans vs the final cropped images.
You’ll see:
What it’s like using a 100-year-old camera in 2026
Why medium format bellows cameras are simpler than you think
How a DIY / 3D-printed lens hood went very wrong (vignetting included)
Raw film scans, dust and all (no hiding it)
This isn’t a restoration or a museum piece it’s about actually using old cameras and seeing what they’re still capable of today.
If you’re into film photography, medium format, weird cameras, DIY camera mods, or just want to see something different than another digital gear review, you’re in the right place.
If you like experimenting with old gear, adapting cameras, or learning film photography the hard way consider subscribing.
