This is our live interpretation of “Foxey Lady” by Jimi Hendrix, performed by Julijan Eric & Friends and inspired by the legendary Band of Gypsys performances at the Fillmore East on New Year’s Eve 1969/70.
That era of Hendrix was raw, funky, psychedelic, and deeply groove-oriented, and we wanted to capture that tight rhythm section feel, aggressive guitar tone, and live improvisational energy while still playing the song in our own way. We never aim to copy Jimi note for note — instead, we focus on the sound, attitude, and freedom that defined his live performances.
On this performance, I’m joined by my dear friends Miha Ribarić on bass guitar and Bor Zakonjšek on drums, whose deep pocket and dynamics helped bring that Band of Gypsys funk-blues rock vibe to life. The entire concert was beautifully filmed by Sebastian Škoić, capturing the atmosphere and intensity of the night.
