A tutorial on the 4 options found on the drop-down menu of the Valeton GP200. We will be briefly exploring how to assign Knob 1-3, the EXP settings that allow you to assign a Wah Pedal, the CTRL settings to turn on/off your patches and the FX loop. How to integrate an external pedal into your effects chain.
Wanted to keep it as simple as possible with how it is explained.
KNOB 1-3 are the 3 knobs found just below the screen, where you can assign different effects to be adjusted. Within the effect, you can then choose which of the effects individual settings you want to assign and adjust without having to enter the pedal settings.
EXP SETTINGS is where you would set up your Wah Pedal. Ensuring you have your chosen wah effect that you want to use, then keep the range from min 0 - 100 max. This will then give you the full effect for the Wah Pedal. (Side note - doesn’t have to be the wah pedal, this demo was just to show how to assign it to the EXP Pedal with a smooth transition without affecting the volume EXP pedal. When going back to your Volume EXP, best to keep the pedal all the way down flat)
CTRL SETTINGS is where you assign pedals to turn on/off at which ever CTRL you choose to assign them to. I have CTRL1 already on the Valeton, as it is the factory settings. CTRL2 is an external dual switch, where you can see/hear me press to change the assigned effects, that don’t interfere with CTRL1. You can choose to turn on/off multiple effects with this page, allowing for several changes depending on what you want out of your patch. You will notice I turn off Delay & Modulator by simply pressing the effect buttons. So, if you want the pedal off, then assign it to turn on, you can do so within the same screen. Easy procedure.
FX LOOP is where you assign external pedals, into your Valeton’s signal chain. This is very handy to add more pedals if you want to have something specific in between the Valeton’s effects. Some might choose to have their pedals via input/output, running a traditional signal chain. Some might want to have others mixed into the Valeton’s chain, which can create different mixtures of tone, depending on what you choose. The example I give, is one of my external distortion pedals, the Movall JFET High Gain. You will choose where you want to SEND (going to the pedal) and then RETURN (back into the Valeton) to then add it to the Valeton’s chain. Adjust the position based off where you want this to occur. This is something you would need to experiment with because not all pedals fit the same location, depending on what effects you have on the chain. You can see as I switch through my banks, they are different, for different tonal responses.
Any questions, please feel free to ask me.
