The first of the all-requests series, Diamonds and Dames. Interestingly, the title of this series is unintentionally similar to a blog I visit often...Diamond Dame:

Anyway, visit her cool blog for lots of great retro news and reviews.
About Mary Haines: Norma Shearer played her in the movie and I'll provide a movie synopsis on my blog. The hairstyle is short but we 'faked it' here. This style is actually achieved with the 1930's/40's 'shingle' haircut as described in Creative Hairshaping by Ivan Anderson. It was very popular among the mature ladies of the time. I used an overpinning technique to mimic the fluff curls, as opposed to an underpinning technique that would give the hair a bobbed appearance. It's not perfect...but definitely workable.
For that gorgeous "Norma" orchid, visit 'Belle Blossoms', as seen in my last product review:

By the way, I forgot to include the name of the persons who requested this look. So if you requested Mary Haines...say 'here here!' in the comments. :D
Enjoy!
