In music, an "accent" is an emphasis placed on a particular note.
Essentially, you play the note louder than those around it.
Use the exercises in this video to practice accented rhythms involving 8th notes, 16th notes, 8th triplets, and 16th triplets.
Drummers will often play accented notes as rimshots, but this isn't a rule.
All exercises have a tempo of 60 BPM. Change the playback speed to suit your skill level.
