Welcome back to my Emotion Owl series! In this video, we’ll crochet one of the most common emotions we all feel: anger.
Sometimes we just need to pause and ask ourselves: What really makes me angry? And what do I do with that feeling?
This little red owl reminds us that even strong emotions can be expressed in a gentle, creative way.
This pattern is part of my growing EmotionOwl Playlist, where each owl represents a different feeling, happy, sad, surprised, and more to come! Every design helps us explore emotions with color, yarn, and a bit of humor. It’s a beautiful way to get to know yourself, connect with others, and maybe even turn a stressful day into a mindful crochet moment.
Why This Project Is Special:
This isn’t just a crochet pattern, it’s a tiny lesson in emotional awareness.
By crocheting different emotions, you can reflect on what they mean, how they feel in your body, and how you can express them in healthy ways.
It’s perfect for parents, teachers, or anyone who wants to support emotional intelligence development through creativity.
Crochet can be therapeutic, it helps calm the mind, focus your thoughts, and release tension through rhythm and texture.
That’s why I like to call this project a little form of therapy with crochet.
🧶 Materials You’ll Need
Chunky yarn for the owl’s body (I used red for this one — because nothing says “I’m mad!” quite like red!) - appr. 25 g
Sport-weight yarn in white (for the eyes)
Yellow sport-weight yarn (for the beak)
Black yarn — thinner for the lower eyebrow line, and chunky or plush yarn for the upper eyebrow to give that bold “Don’t mess with me” look
6 mm safety eyes
Crochet hook (I used a 4 mm hook for the base owl)
A yarn needle and some stuffing
This pattern builds on my Base Owl Pattern, which you can also find on the EmotionOwl Playlist. The base is beginner-friendly, once you’ve made it, you can reuse it for every emotion you want to explore!
What You’ll Learn in This Video
How to crochet expressive eyes that show emotion
How to embroider eyebrows that give attitude and personality
This is a quick and easy project, perfect for beginners and for anyone looking for a relaxing, meaningful crochet session.
Crochet as Emotional Support
Crocheting emotions is more than just crafting, it’s a gentle way to understand yourself and others.
Through color, texture, and expression, you can teach kids how to name and recognize their feelings, and even help adults reconnect with theirs.
We all need reminders to check in with how we feel, and sometimes, a soft little owl can do just that.
So grab your yarn, take a deep breath, and let’s crochet our feelings together.
