The construction of the denominated ‘knowledge society’ is increasingly in need of technological platforms for distance education, not only for knowledge transmission but also for its practical implementation. However, practical knowledge transmission platforms are limited in number and available resources. Nevertheless, real and practical experience cannot be excluded, since the use of a laboratory is key to the development of skills and expertise that can only be obtained by applying knowledge.

Under this context, by integrating electronic, computing and communication technologies, the present project develops Technological Platforms that allow knowledge transmission and its application in real experiments with real time response. The platforms are laboratory stations with remote access which can be shared by different institutions giving them the possibility to overcome the growing limitations of traditional laboratories, such as limited work area, high cost of the equipment, lack of personnel, not enough time assigned to the laboratory, and their availability at non-working hours.
