Landing at Kiruna Airport, I skipped the usual car ride and started this trip the most Arctic way possible — by dog sled. Within minutes, I was bundled up in 5 layers (it was -37C outside), standing behind a team of huskies that could barely contain their excitement. The moment we took off, everything went quiet in a way that only the far north can be quiet, just the sound of the sled gliding over snow and the dogs’ steady rhythm pulling us forward.
The ride from the airport to the ICEHOTEL felt unreal. We moved through frozen rivers and snow-covered forests, with pastel skies fading into deep Arctic blue. At times, it felt like time slowed down completely, no engines, no crowds, just cold air on my face and miles of untouched winter around us.
