Описание: The 65th Anniversary Thanksgiving was in honor of Patriarch Dr Granville Williams BCH; JP; OHP; VDM; DDCH, of the Spiritual Baptist Faith in Barbados. It was in 1957 he returned from Trinidad and brought the SBF to Barbados. A charismatic and visionary leader of over 10,000 Spiritual Baptists, he propelled his church into entrepreneurship and participation in Crop Over Festival, at a time when other religious institutions were wary of supporting this national festival. He is noted for his commitment to and love of Barbados’ African heritage and the empowerment of Barbadians through his assurance that black divinity was central to their practice of the Christian Faith. Within the open spaces of historic Bridgetown, Archbishop Williams and his followers showcased a unique form of worship that incorporated elements of African song and dance. His legacy of community life through religion, and African consciousness, culture and entrepreneurship remains as the central force of Spiritual Baptist in Barbados.
