Stories like those of Nikki Bhati, Madhu Singh, Sanju Bishnoi, Khushboo, and Swati remind us of a painful truth: dowry is not just a demand — in many cases, it turns into a death sentence.
According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2022 data, 6,516 women lost their lives due to dowry-related violence.
This number is 25 times higher than the deaths following rape or gang rape, revealing the terrifying scale of this silent crime.
The question is — how long will society remain silent?
How long will women’s lives continue to be negotiated, priced, and sacrificed in the name of tradition?
It is time to speak up.
