Welch used to be called "Little New York" back when it was a booming coal mining town back around the 1950s until the 1990s. When the coal mines shut down is when businesses started to close as you see in the video.

However, there is a lot of good news on the horizon! Welch is starting to boom again due to the ATV Trails that we now have! We now have lots of tourists from out of state visiting Welch, WV to ride The FAMOUS Hatfield-McCoy Trail! We have the BEST ATV / UTV Riding Trails in the United States!

The Hatfield-McCoy Trails have received praise from Dirt Wheels Magazine,
UTV Action Magazine, as well as television features on the
Outdoor Channel and Discovery Channel!

All Hatfield-McCoy Trails are open 365 days a year from half an hour before
sunrise until half an hour after sunset. Experience all four seasons in the mountains!

One permit gives you access to over 1000 miles of trails for a full calendar year.
You can ride to gas stations, restaurants, lodging, trailheads and more in our ATV-friendly towns.
