In this series, we change major components of the front suspension, including drive shafts and brakes.
Episode 1 shows dismantling, following episodes are wishbone replacement, shock absorbers and drive shafts. Rear shocks, brakes and a wheel bearing also will be changed.
This acar is a 2007 V50 D5, but the procedure as shown does apply to most Volvo C30, S40, V50 models, also some Ford Focus and Mazda models. Depending on engine and transmission, dimensions might be slightly different, but the general principle is the same.
Unfortunately, the driveshafts were are rather painful journey, because the first supplier did send both sides wrong, replaced one which then finally had the right dimensions, but with the other side they said they have only the one they sent and it would fit auto and manual transmission, which is absolutely not the case.
So i decided to order it elsewhere, but it turned out that was not a direct fit either.
Finally decided to make a custom part to ensure it fits correctly.
