Описание: Cartoonists Northwest's February Speaker is the illustrator known as Skull and Sheets, featuring the Mari Lwyd!
The Mari Lwyd is an old Welsh tradition that goes around local establishments and homes during the festive period in the hope of not only getting alcohol and cake but also chasing out bad luck and encouraging the good to move in. Little did it know that one day it would meet a strange middle aged girl from England and would become their muse.

Their journey started through a desire to get better at drawing after a 15 plus year hiatus from drawing in 2018, and became a sense of comfort and solace when I escaped from a volatile relationship in 2019. Although this transition was difficult, I continued to draw everyday and have enjoyed experimenting with applying the Mari Lwyd into different art styles over the past 8 years. Aubrey Beardsley and Harry Clarke are particular favourites of mine to combine with the ethereal nature of this dead horse.

You can find her, flogging said undead horses, on procreate after a day of wrangling other people's children or occasionally in watercolour or ink if time allows!
