📌Sittong is a village in the Kurseong division of Darjeeling district. It is not a village, but a cluster of villages in a large area known locally as Sittong Khasmahal. The place has become famous among tourists as it is the heart of the orange-growing countryside of Darjeeling hills. However, Sittong has much more to offer to tourists apart from its oranges.
Sittong is a very popular tourist destination, particularly in the late winter/early summer when it is called orange village because it's the season in which oranges grow there.Every year, the Directorate of Cinchona and Other Medicinal Plants Government of West Bengal organizes the Orange Festival in the month of December. This event featured seminars and demonstrations highlighting modern cultivation methods. Apart from agriculture, the festival celebrated local culture with various performances by the locals. This festival is crucial in supporting the region's orange farming community and ensuring an endurable future for Darjeeling Mandarin Orange cultivation.
