Easiest way to hide countertop cables for only $5 and some of your time!
Just measure the length, width, and height of the cables you're trying to hide and then trace out a top, front, and two sides. Mine was 11 inches long, 4 inches tall, 3 inches wide, so I had a 11"x3" top, 11"x4" front, and two 4"x3" sides! Cut the pieces out by scoring the foam board with a box cutter and cracking the board, then cutting the crease on the opposite side. If needed, notch out some spots for cables. I put one on the top piece in the center and one on each side.
To give it a finished look, trace the thickness of the board onto three sides of the top piece, leaving one long side, and then onto one long side of each of the side pieces. Use your box cutter to cut along those lines, but not through the entire board, then peel off the foam leaving paper flaps on those edges. Glue the sides onto the top, with the flaps of the sides facing towards the flap on the top, then glue the front on, sitting within the flaps. That's it!
If you want to make it perfect your can even plaster the edges, sand it down, and then paint it to match your kitchen!
You'll need:
Foam Core Board
Hot Glue (or school glue!)
Box Cutter
Measuring Tape or Ruler
Straight Edge (I used the shelf from my Ikea bookshelf!)
Cable Ties or Elastic Bands
Some Tape (Double Sided Preferred)
