I am so excited to share the very first piece I ever wrote with you. At first, this piece made me think of the modern-day prodigal sons and daughters who maybe grew up knowing God, but walk away for a while trying to do life on their own.

However, after a few months I realized that we are all like the prodigal son in one way or another. Even when we know God's word, and know right from wrong we still make choices on a daily basis that aren't aligned with God's will. Or maybe we try to get things done our own way without even coming to Him first, and in that way, walking away from our Father's house to figure out our own way to happiness.

Ever since I realized that I have my prodigal moments every day this piece has become even more special. Although we are children of God we still tend to follow our flesh sometimes. But the moment we realize it and come to the Father for forgiveness He runs to us with arms open wide.

Isn't it so good to know that our Father is always there, looking out in the distance just waiting for us to turn to him? I hope this piece speaks to you and reminds you that your Heavenly Father will never leave you nor forsake you. And for that I will always praise Him and desire His will for my life.

Two words I try to say
Two words I try to pray
But in my weakness I doubt
And in my weakness I wander
I question the voice of thunder
And let my heart go astray

I go my own way
And chase my own gains
As if I could do better
As if I knew what’s best
And can find my own way
To the joy that I crave
But the things that I find and create
Are only temporary
No matter how far I get
I’m never satisfied
And at the end of the day
I ‘m not always okay
With the things that I’ve done
Or the person I’ve become

So that’s it
I throw in the towel
I turn in my expectations
Of a life full of greatness
And settle in for a life of mediocracy
‘Cause by now I’m convinced
Okay is all I’ll ever be

But there is still a small voice
A whisper in the wind
That calls my name
And leads me back to Him

So God, is there still a chance
You’ll let me in Your kingdom?
You offered all I needed
But I chose to walk away
I chose my own mistakes and put You on a shelf
So I’d understand if You can’t
‘Cause at this point I don’t know if I could forgive myself

But that’s when I hear You say…

My child, don’t be foolish
Don’t be so quick to quit
You know I want what’s best for you
I stood at the door and waited for you
At the cross I bled and died for you
So let me finish the plan I have for you

Let me take away your sorrow
Darling, let me take the lead
Help you forget the past
Because I already did

I can give you joy
I can give you peace
Set your feet to dancing
Set your heart to prancing
Set your spirit free

But listen!

Until you realize that all you want
