Dan Novak and Ashley Thompson host today's Learning English podcast.
First, we hear a story from Gena Bennett. She has a report on the College Board's new framework for its Advanced Placement (AP) African American Studies class for high school students. The latest version comes months after the organization was criticized for discussing course requirements with conservative critics.
Next, John Russell tells us about new research on mosquitoes. Scientists say they have discovered the oldest-known fossils of two male mosquitoes. The fossils show the males had long mouthparts that are now only seen in female mosquitoes.
Bryan Lynn brings us this week's Science Report. He reports on the recent discovery of six planets orbiting a nearby star in "perfect harmony" in our Milky Way galaxy. Bryan then joins Dan in the studio to talk more about how the discovery happened.
Andrew Smith and Jill Robbins close the podcast with their Lesson of the Day. Today, they take a closer look at Lesson 45 of our Let's Learn English program. They discuss Anna and Marsha's "ambitious" road trip across the United States. They also explain the future continuous tense in English.
