In this video, we study a box sliding down a smooth ramp under the influence of gravity and apply Newton’s Second Law using two different coordinate systems. In part a, the axes are chosen to be horizontal and vertical and in part b, the coordinate system is rotated so one axis lies parallel to the incline and the other is perpendicular to it. Watch till the end to see how the coordinate system greatly changes the work needed to solve the problem.
