Spinoza’s and Gurdjieff’s views of Viktor Frankl book, "Man's Search for Meaning." Viktor Frankl an Austrian Jew who lived to tell his story surviving the Holocaust. He was a psychiatrist and neurologist. He observed the people in the concentration camp and realized that those who had no purpose died quickly within days. They succumbed to a state of give-up-itis which he coined.
Viktor Frankl had a reason to survive. He thought of his wife, his parents and brother. He hoped that they would be together after this nightmare was over. He wrote a book, “Man’s Search of Meaning.” And this is what I want to emphasize, that without a purpose, without meaning to your life you’ll remain a biological robotic being.
Being unconscious of your true spiritual intelligent potential. Gurdjieff called this a sleep state of being and Spinoza offers keys how to awaken your mind to see and understand the meaning of life. You must have a purpose to have a meaningful life; otherwise, you’ll be empty, fearful, having no direction which will lead you into depression. Spinoza’s philosophy and Gurdjieff’s teaching have changed my life and has given me a purpose and an essential meaning to my life.
