The Nifty crossed the 25,900 mark intraday, supported by positive global cues, upbeat exit polls from Bihar projecting an NDA win and optimism around India-US trade negotiations. The Sensex closed 595 points higher at 84,466, while the Nifty ended 181 points up at 25,876. Broader markets mirrored the gains, with the Nifty Midcap index hitting a fresh 52-week high. Banking stocks too remained firm as Nifty Bank neared its yearly peak. Asian Paints, Adani Enterprises, Tech Mahindra, TCS and HDFC Life led the gains, while Tata Steel and TMPV lagged. Realty was the only sector ending in red.
