6mm Dasher for Coyotes? Testing Varmint Bullets for Speed, Accuracy & Ballistics
Can a competition rifle like the 6mm Dasher double as a serious coyote hunting rig? In this video I test multiple 6mm varmint bullets to find the best combination of velocity, accuracy, and ballistic performance for night hunting coyotes.
Instead of building a dedicated thermal hunting rifle, I wanted to adapt my precision competition rifle into a fast, flat-shooting predator setup. That meant finding a bullet that could survive extreme RPM from a 7.5 twist barrel, push 3500–3600+ FPS, and still deliver the accuracy needed for 300–400 yard coyote shots.
We test several popular 6mm varmint bullets including options from Nosler, Sierra, and Berger, then compare their velocity, grouping, ballistic coefficient, wind drift, and downrange energy using ballistic calculators.
The results were surprising — especially when comparing high velocity bullets vs high BC bullets for real-world hunting performance.
