Emanuel “Manny” Gould (May 1907- July 1975) was a Golden Age animator, writer and director most famous for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons.
Gould started in New York working for Max Fleischer, Associated Animators and Charles Mintz. He soon made his way to Warner Bros. where he animated for the Bob Clampett, Art Davis and Bob McKimson units. Gould then moved to Jerry Fairbanks and Lou Lilly Productions working in the commercial and industrial divisions. He spent the later half of his career animating for Ed Graham Jr, DePatie-Freleng, Ralph Bakshi and Bob Taylor.
Manny Gould’s animation has a crazy and loose quality. He likes animating bombastic character acting with wild takes, expressive hand postures and cartoonish exaggeration.
