It was not because onions are forbidden.
Onions and garlic are halal in Islam.
However, the Prophet ﷺ advised that whoever eats garlic or onions should not come to the mosque until the smell is gone.
Why?
Because their strong smell can disturb other people and even the angels.
So it was not about the food itself —
it was about respecting others and maintaining cleanliness.
Islam teaches manners, purity, and consideration.
