Directed by Luigi Batzella (1924-2008) and assisted by an uncredited Joe D'Amato (1936-1999), this Italian / West-German co-production western film stars Gianfranco Clerici, Gino Turini, Nello Palladino, Sophia Kammara, Attilio Dottesio (1909-1989), Esmeralda Barros (1944-2019), Jeff Cameron (1932-1985), and Krista Nell (1946-1975). Although a fairly solid entry into the genre, the film contains a number of scenes from two other westerns Batzella directed: 'Even Django has his Price (1971) and 'Paid in Blood (1972). However, the film benefits from an imaginative way to deal with bad girl Paquita (played by Esmeralda Barros).
Landford City was once a peaceful place to live, but not anymore. A gang of landgrabbers are terrorizing the small town. Sheriff Bill Harris (Attilio Dottesio) is ill-equipped to deal with the situation so asks the army for help. Capt. Mike Jackson (Jeff Cameron), working undercover, heads back to his hometown to find out what's going on. The Greenwater Cattle Co., fronted by Manuel (Gianfranco Clerici) and Colins (Donald O'Brien) have set up in town, and uses strong-arm tactics to force the local ranchers to sell their herds to the company for a fraction of what they're worth. The government had dispatched an agent named James Klinger (Gino Turini) to deal with the problem, but now he's disappeared. Soon, Jackson discovers there's another motivation for the trouble in Landford. A silver mine with a secret location that was owned by the father of Mary (Krista Nell), the woman he once intended to marry. The location was so secret even Mary didn't know where the mine was located. And now her father is dead, and the map revealing that information has gone missing from his safe...
The soundtrack is under the experienced hand of Vasco Vassil Kojucharov (here as Vasili), well known for his westerns scores, who delivers some remarkably interesting themes, creating a style that although can be identified as being pure Spaghetti western, also has to it an individual and original array of instrumentations. Kojucharov would also utilise the trumpet solo to great effect and often laced this with strident strings and an array of percussion. He would also often use harpsichord that added much to the overall sound of his scores, adding a flourish here and there giving them an elegant sound. Born in Bulgaria, Kojucharov worked on many Italian films and excelled within the western genre, and had, on several occasions, collaborated with fellow composer Elsio Mancuso under the alias Vasco & Mancuso. Other westerns that Kojucharov penned on his own included 'God will Forgive my Gun (1966), 'One by One (1968), 'Sartana the Grave Digger (1969), and 'A Cry of Death (1971). But it was not just westerns that Kojucharov was involved with, he provided soundtracks for many genres of film, most notable being 'Byleth: The Demon of Incest (1972), 'Heroes in Hell (1974), and 'Killers Gold (1979). Director Batzella and Kojucharov collaborated on a number of occasions, and many fans and critics alike regard 'The Devils Wedding Night (1973) as one of their most interesting and original works. Kojucharov was also a musical tutor and had received several prestigious awards throughout his career.
