PROSPECTUS:-
A BRIEF INFORMATION OF THE COLLEGE

B.K. College of Art & Crafts has been established at Bhubaneswar by the Goverment of Odisha under the administrative control of the Department of Odia language , Literature and Culture in the academic year 1983 - 84 . Bhubaneswar , the capital city , synthesizes the tradition and the modern in every facts of life and culture , thus provides a backdrop of centuries old artistic creativity reflected on the temple walls and monuments . This induces an atmosphere of incessant art activity in the city . The College of Art and Craft is dedicated in loving memory of Late . Bibhuti kanungo , an eminent painter , graphic designer and art educationist of Odisha . It is situated on the mountain foot of the historic Jaina caves at khandagiri and Udayagiri . The city of Bhubaneswar is one of the sacred places in india which is famous for ' Ekamra Kshetra ' , ' Chakra - Kshetra ' , the temple city and finally the capital of Odisha . The capital also proud of retaining very famous ancient and medieval temples of Parasurameswara , Vaital Muktesvara , Lingaraj , Rajarani etc. having international reputes in the field of art , architecture , religion , music and dance .

This is an institute for advanced training in Visual Art ( Creative and Applied ) . It provided only Bachelor Degree in visual Art ( BVA ) . It was affiliated with the Utkal University , Bhubaneswar till 1998 and now affiliated with the utkal University of Culture , Bhubaneswar .
This College bears a good aesthetic environment for growth of the talents of the students . there are several art galleries , museums , planetarium , natural zoo , botanical and zoological gardens , science park , crafts museum , tribal art centers , traditional handicraft centers , textile emporiums etc. and give ample scope to exercise the artistic and aestheticstalents of the atudents . The world famous Konark Temple and Jagannath Temple are also very close to Bubaneswar . Bubaneswar is linked by air , rail and roadway with different parts of india .

NOMENCLATURE :
The Course is named as Bachelor Degree in Visual Art . It is a four years integrated degree Course .

COURSE STRUCTURE :
The four year choice based credit system in a full time BVA Degree Course is divided into two parts .
( a ) Foundation ( Two Semesters )
( b ) Specialisation ( Six Semesters )
Each Semester shall have six months duration .

FOUNDATION :
It is one year ( Two Semesters ) duration , the foundation is common to all the specialisation except the Art History specialisation . As implied , the foundation course provides instruction to lay the base for the specialisation .
Compulsory :
(i) M.I.L ( Odia ) or Alternative English ( ii )English
( iii ) Environmental studies
( iv ) Indian Society Culture
( v ) Art theory

PRACTICAL :
( i ) Painting ( Western Style )
( ii ) Pointing ( Indian Style )
( iii ) Printmaking ( Graphic Art )
( iv ) Modelling & Sculpture
( v ) Applied Art & Design
( vi ) Craft ( Ceramic )

SPECIALISATION :
After completion of the foundation Course successfuly . One may only go for specialisation course .

The Specialisation are offered as follows .
( i ) Painting ( Western Style )
( ii ) Painting ( Indian Style )
( iii ) Printmaking ( Graphic rts )
( iv ) Modelling & Sculpture
( v ) Applied Art & Design
( vi ) Craft ( Ceramic )
( vii ) Art History

Practical :
Student shall have to choose any one of the practical specialisation subjects ( compulsory ) ,

Academic Session :

The Academic Year is Divided into two terms . 1st Term - July to December Ilnd Term - January to May

Working Hours :

Normal Class hours of the college is form 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. except 2nd Saturday , Sunday and Holidays .
