The Sensex gained 544 points, closing at 85,219, while the Nifty surged 197 points to end at 26,136. The Nifty Bank rose by 410 points, closing at 59,581. Bargain hunting lifted benchmark indices, despite ongoing concerns over foreign fund outflows. Key gainers included JSW Steel, ONGC, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra, and Reliance. The market saw buying in sectors such as oil & gas, auto, PSU banks, realty, consumer durables, and pharma, while the IT sector witnessed selling pressure.
