NINETEEN DEAD IN KOLKATA FESTIVAL CRUSH

Описание: A night of celebration in Kolkata turned into heartbreak within minutes.

Rain fell on a packed Durga Puja pavilion in north Kolkata on Saturday night, and crowds rushing for shelter began falling in a deadly crush at the Chorbagan pandal near Girish Park.

At least nineteen people died, including a child aged seven, and twenty five others were injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the tragedy saddening and announced relief for the families, while a judge led investigation examines crowd safety and organisers have been detained for questioning.
