Walking in Dawn Snow through Samurai Quarter, Castle, and Gardens | Kanazawa, Japan

Описание: A winter walk in snow, sleet, rain, and slush through Kanazawa, starting in the samurai district, walking through Kanazawa Castle, and into the gardens of Kenroku-en. This was my first time in Kanazawa and I wasn't sure what to expect. The first thing that stood out to me were the sprinklers in the street to melt the snow, which created a slushy walking surface, but surprisingly I didn't encounter any ice. The Samurai District, where we start our walk in the pre-dawn twilight, was also a pleasant surprise. It is a small district, so we walk along the canal and down the main street as snow and sleet fall from the sky. We pass through Oyama Shrine and Garden on our way to the wet snow of Kanazawa Castle and finish at Kenroku-en, one of The Three Great Gardens of Japan.

It was a a bit difficult to walk through the slush and snow, so I didn't explore as much of the castle grounds or the gardens as I would have liked, but I was impressed by the area and it is a place I hope to return in other seasons.
