Falcon Lair
Benedict Canyon / Bel Air / Los Angeles
Episode 113
Falcon Lair is an estate above Benedict Canyon in Bel Air, Los Angeles. The estate was built in 1925 by Rudolph Valentino, who named it after his unproduced film, The Hooded Falcon. Falcon Lair was also previously the residence of heiress Doris Duke.
Legend has it Falcon Lair was haunted; however, the main property was bulldozed in 2003. If any ghosts still linger, they woulda had to relocate to either the guesthouse, garage or stables, as those are the only remaining structures.
This trip starts headed West on the Sunset Strip followed by a turn deeper into Beverly Hills at Alpine Drive (03:15). We take another turn at Hartford Way (05:00) followed by another at Benedict Canyon (05:33) and another at Angelo Drive (05:50). The scenic drive up the hill to Falcon Lair starts at (12:00) and the property entrance can be seen at (12:58). The remainder of this trip winds through the neighborhood and eventually back to Sunset Blvd headed East (21:56) … I let this video go long so you could see the new billboard for ‘Chimp Crazy’, because I fully support chimpanzee-centric entertainment (26:04).
