Mae Xiong has been a preschool teacher for nearly three decades. She currently teaches at Neighborhood House of Milwaukee.
She recently completed a professional development program called LENA Grow, which focuses on the importance of adult-child interactions. These interactions, called "conversational turns," have been linked to accelerated socioemotional development, vocabulary skills, executive functioning, and more.
Next door Milwaukee, in coordination with researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette University, recently completed an independent program evaluation of LENA Grow, showing child-level increases in TS GOLD® scores, improved job satisfaction among teachers, and increased CLASS® scores.
