In this video, I walk through my small raised-bed Hügelkultur garden in mid-summer and show what is producing right now.
Despite the limited space, the garden is growing determinate and indeterminate tomatoes, Ashley cucumbers, eggplants, sweet peppers, jalapeño peppers, herbs, and lettuce — all supported by healthy, biologically active soil.
These Hügelkultur beds are eight years old and are built on decomposing wood, which helps retain moisture, feed soil life, and slowly release nutrients over time.
This video shows how thoughtful crop grouping, regular harvesting, and good soil structure allow a small garden to produce abundantly through summer.
