Описание: Salkhan Fossils Park in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district has been added to UNESCO’s tentative list of World Heritage Sites. Spanning 25 hectares, the park contains some of the world’s oldest stromatolites, layered rock formations created by ancient microbial life—offering rare evidence of early life on Earth.
If granted final heritage status, the park could significantly boost tourism and research in the region. District authorities, who have been pushing for the recognition for over a year, are now preparing to host UNESCO’s assessment team.
