In its past iterations of the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 trilogy Treyarch managed to craft an interesting and diverse world within its 'Black Ops' storyline, creating many fan favourite characters along the way like Mason, Woods and Reznov. Well the chickens have come home to roost and Black Ops 4's Blackout mode is fundamentally based on the success of characters from past Treyarch Single Player campaigns, with many characters returning in the mode. What Black Ops 4 does not do is add to the great catalogue of single player offerings in the past, insead settling with the mundane Specialist Headquarters 'Missions'.

In a recent leak an ex-Treyarch game tester gave us some insight into what the Black Ops 4 Campaign was originally supposed to be. While it would definitely have been different form the traditional single player stories of the past, it still would have been better than the specialist HQ that's for sure.
