This is an original Meadows Mills 24" stone burr mill that was acquired from under an old barn in the fall of 2016. Over the next year it was completely rebuilt using white oak timbers we cut on our sawmill in lieu of the original pine and finished in clear. The hopper, feed tray, sifter screens, and all internal surfaces are fabricated in stainless steel. The sifter attachment is a completely homemade affair that was designed after seeing videos of others on the internet. It is driven by a 1951 Minneapolis Moline Model RTU tractor. We now use it to custom grind corn meal and grits.
Special thanks goes to:
Dennis Farley, a friend, who allowed me access to his wood shop and extra wide belt sanders in order to properly sand the extra large white oak panels.
Jim Burton, a friend, and the owner of Star Paint and Body of Atlanta, TX for teaching me about paint and body work and allowing me to utilize his shop for much of the metal fabricating and paint work.
Wright Brothers Sheet Metal of Texarkana, AR for the fabrication of the hopper and the stainless steel metal work. They are very customer focused and a pleasure to do business with.
Texarkana Machine of Texarkana, TX who were able to do the line boring through 14" of white oak timber for the housing connecting bolts. Despite involvement in far larger industrial projects they handled my small project in a very timely manner and were also a pleasure to do business with.
My mother who gave me the room to run with this project. As in life itself, she is the wood worker from which I learned most of what I know regarding wood.
