In this video, I’m making Turkish baklava completely from scratch using only two dough balls and a simple rolling pin. No machine, no complicated layering, no stress — just thin, beautiful pastry, buttery layers, and that perfect syrup finish.
You’ll see step-by-step how easy it actually is, so you can confidently make baklava in your own kitchen.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
1 small egg
1/4 cup each milk and vegetable oil
30 gr. butter at room temp.
1/3 cup water
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vinegar
about 2, 2+1/2 cup flour
For filling:
150-250gr. coarsely ground walnuts
To make the layers about 200gr. wheat or corn starch
To butter the layers:
125gr. butter, melted and foam discard
1/4 cup vegetable oil
For the syrup:
1+3/4 cup water (400ml)
2+1/3 cup sugar
small lemon wedge
👩🍳 Baking Tips & Tricks:
✔️ Use corn or wheat starch
✔️ Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 15 minutes, then lower to 160°C (320°F) and bake for 40-50 minutes
✔️ Pour hot syrup over hot baklava for the best absorption and texture
✔️ The syrup thickness is important for crispy result, don't skip and watch that part carefully too😊
