Am I A Real Christian?

Today I'm going to tackle one of the really tough questions that people have and that is am i a real Christian are you a real Christian and how do you know? that when did your Christianity start? are you a Christian because you were raised in a Christian home are you a Christian just because you decided to be one and call yourself one first I want to show you some false starting points of Christianity and then I'm going to show you what Jesus said is the actual starting point of Christianity in your life the first false starting point I want to highlight is that people say well because I believe that there is a God and I believe that this God is good therefore I'm a Christian the problem with that is that the Bible says that God makes it rain on the just and the unjust alike in other words God is good to the believer and a non-believer equally God is good to everybody but everybody's not serving him so that means that just because you know that God is good does not mean that you have yet started your Christian walk the second false starting point of Christianity is when people say things like you know what I prayed and God answered my prayer therefore I know I'm right with God well this isn't an authentic starting point of Christianity at all I'll give you an example years ago terrorists attacked to the United States of America and they flew airplanes into buildings three airplanes into three different buildings well at next Sunday churches around the country were packed out with people thousands of people were standing in lines outside of churches waiting to get in why because they were uncertain over the future they they didn't know if they were gonna get attacked again or not so people were flooding churches asking God to protect them and the truth is there were no further attacks so we can assume that God answered those prayers but the question is how many of those thousands upon thousands of people who flooded churches are serving God today well maybe a fraction if that why because just because God answered a prayer doesn't mean somebody has just become a Christian the third false starting point of Christianity is when people's questions are answered a lot of people say that they can't believe in God because they have tough questions too many questions that are left unanswered therefore they cannot be Christians well what happens when all those questions get answered are they going to become a Christian not at all why because I have seen so many people debate the fact that there is no God because of these questions like why why there is no God if there was a God and if he was good why is there so much evil taking place in the earth well if you can answer somebody that question they're not gonna fall down on their knees and start praising God and worshiping God because that's not an authentic starting point of Christianity Jesus gives us the starting point in Matthew chapter 16 he asks his disciples who do you say that I am they gave all these different answers and then and then Peter gets up he says you are the Christ the Son of the Living God the Messiah Jesus says stop everybody there's the answer and then he says this about the answer he says to Peter Peter no one taught you that it's not of man he says but my father in heaven showed you who I am it was not of man it was of God. God miraculously opened your eyes Peter so that you could see who I was the Messiah the Christ the Son of the Living God God opened your eyes so that you could see who I was and see your need for me just like God also miraculously open Paul's eyes on the road of Damascus where Paul saw who Christ was the son of God the Messiah and his need for Christ this is the authentic real starting point of Christianity is a miracle from God when he opens your eyes and you can go that's who Jesus is and that is why I need him it's not that somebody convinced you to join the church it's that God miraculously opens your eyes to recognize identify Christ and your need of him now if that is you I want to pray for you if you say Jacques I need that miracle then I want to pray for you father I thank you for my friends watching and I ask father God for this miracle where you will open their eyes so that they can recognize who Christ is and why they need him in Jesus mighty name amen
