Every day we used to come and go out together. Madhabi's age was less. I used to watch in front of my eyes their shooting scene underneath the trees of Sal. Til now I can remember. After the shoot, he said to me the artists who work with me are robots. They do not know themselves what they are doing or not. I make them do what I want. But the actual work happens in the editing room. Then I make out my whole film from the things I made my actors and actresses do as a part of the sequence of the film. I was there in most of the portion of the shoot but I came back as I was to give the MA exam. Then the sequence of the wedding was filmed. I was in awe of how he progressed the fil shooting different sequences that led from one thing to another. Madhabi's suicide scene, the wedding scene, the scene where she went away all contributed towards making the film. I like that part. Every day I used to spend with a person but when he was a filmmaker how he shot various sequences and progressed with a film and created an artistic sample. We all got to see that uniqueness in Subarnarekha"

Surama Ghatak was the wife of the famous Bengali filmmaker and scriptwriter Rithwik Ghatak. Ritwik Ghatak was born on November 4, 1925, in Dacca, Bengal Presidency, British India as Ritwik Kumar Ghatak. He was a director and writer, known for The Cloud-Capped Star (1960), Madhumati (1958) and Jukti Takka Arr Gappo (1974).
