A UNESCO World Heritage Pilgrim's Hospital | Hôpital des Pèlerins de Pons

Описание: We’re still in Pons, however we’ve made our way outside the city walls. Here we discover a UNESCO World Heritage site: the Pilgrim’s Hospital. It is a beautifully decorated Romanesque building. Especially the portal and two porches are so intricately detailed, it is quite remarkable. Inside the hospital we discover a large open space covered with a wooden framework roof dating to the 13th century, when the hospital was enlarged. Inside this open space a small museum has been set up. A small portion is dedicated to sickcare and shows how pilgrims would be treated for their many ailments. The other part exhibits local archaeological findings dating from the stone age to more modern periods. The garden is made to resemble a monastic garden and brings peace to mind to any visitor.
