Islam Allowed Idol Worship in Petra?!

Constantinople of the Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire did ban certain sacrifices in an effort to lessen pagan influence in the growing Christian nation, but there is no evidence these edicts were embraced in the southernmost part of the empire in Petra. This city prided itself on its religious diversity and tolerance. The pagan temples and practices in Petra were most certainly active during the time of Muhammad.
