The Mediterranean island nation of Cyprus is officially a member of the European Union. But still there are many kinds of complications for migrants from Bangladesh.

Even being officially in the EU, half of the island remains a self-declared independent state- Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. Technically, the Cypriot government has very little or no control over that northern part of the island. Even the facilities that come with the EU membership remain suspended there. There is even a unofficial border that divides the entire island where UN peacekeeping forces patrol to prevent unauthorized crossing.
