Me and my buddy Dale had a lot of fun building this trike. We always say to each other "how many people get to build something from scratch that you can actually Fly!!"
We did something similar in the past with a Simonini engine but the power was not there for a heavy guy.
This trike weighs 173 lbs dry. I think (don't quote me) a standard FlyPod with the Fresh Breeze Monster weighs 142 lbs.
Naturally the extra weight is in the cage since it is solid as a rock for that potential roll over.
51' Helix 3 blade prop, Electric start. We rolled, bent and welded all tubing. Milled motor and exhaust brackets, prop spacers. This was a fun project. It truly has more than enough power.
I only have a Xl Power Atlas for the weight range but I want to try flying this trike with a better more modern glider. My arms were sore from just trying to make a turn after the test flight. My good friend Andy Ekstrom said the same after he took it for a run.
