Filippo Milano, MD, PhD, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA, discusses the future of cord blood transplant (CBT) in leukemia treatment. Despite the decrease in CBT due to long recovery times and risk of infection, Dr Milano highlights that this therapeutic option still has a future, especially considering its remarkable benefits in high-risk patients. Recent FDA approval of a CBT product may encourage its use in the clinical setting. This interview took place at the 65th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition, held in San Diego, CA.
