In the 1990s many European dads that went looking for a new family car took a special liking to the Audi 80 Avant B4 as it offered a modern alternative to the BMW E36 and Mercedes 190E.
Over 5 years ago I bought this relatively rare Audi 80 Avant B4 16v but with the Audi Coupe quattro, the Audi S6 C4 and other projects I never had the time to bring it back to the road but that changes now!
This little Audi 80 Avant is powered by a 2 litre 16 valve 4 cylinder known as the ACE engine which was also found in the Audi 80 Competition which was used to homologate the Audi 80 for the STW that essentially replaced the DTM in the mid 1990s.
Originally the plan was to turn this car into an Audi S2 or Audi RS2 Tribute/replica, complete with a 20 valve 5 cylinder turbo but as I now have both the Audi S6 C4 and the Audi S4 C4 with those engines it's time to go with something quite different.
Clearly I have a fascination with German cars, particularly those from the Ferdinand Piëch era of the Volkswagen Audi family
