This is not our typical Rewinder. This was not a typical moment in sports history. That does not mean it wasn't important and definitely doesn't mean it's something we can't learn from.
Football is a violent sport. It always has been, it's written into the rules, and there have been plenty of unfortunate moments as a result. Many of us watched Damar Hamlin collapse on the field when the Buffalo Bills played the Cincinnati Bengals. It had seemed like a routine play, then in an instant the NFL turned upside down.
What came in the following game was a special moment, but to understand what made it so special we're looking back at who Hamlin was, what his injury meant in the grand scheme of things, and why the game just keeps being played.
