Today’s plan is to visit one of the most popular tourist destinations near Da Nang — Ba Na Hills, located about 43 km from the city.
My original plan was to rent a bike or scooter, but since I don’t have a license, that wasn’t possible. So no worries — I started this journey on a Grab bike instead. On the way, we crossed the Song Han Bridge, which is Vietnam’s first and only swing bridge. Every night around 11–12, traffic is stopped and the bridge rotates 90 degrees to allow ships and boats to pass. Since Da Nang is a coastal city, this makes the bridge both functional and fascinating 🌉
Next comes one of the most exciting parts of the trip — the world’s longest non-stop single cable car ride 🚠.
It covers a distance of 5.8 km and crosses a height difference of about 300 meters, taking us straight to the top of Ba Na Mountain in just 15–20 minutes. Normally, reaching the top by steep mountain roads takes almost an hour, so this ride itself is a next-level experience.
Below us is the Ba Na – Nui Chua Nature Reserve, known for being one of Vietnam’s richest ecosystems. The view from above is absolutely unreal — dense green forests, clouds floating around, and a vibe that feels straight out of a fantasy world ☁️🌿
After the cable car, I reached the French Village. The moment you enter, it feels like you’ve stepped into Europe. Historically, Ba Na Hills was developed by the French as a hill station to escape Vietnam’s tropical heat — similar to how the British built hill stations in India.
The architecture is inspired by French colonial and medieval European styles, with cobblestone streets, churches, cafés, and colorful buildings. Yes, it’s very touristy and crowded 😅, but there’s no shortage of activities — cafés, restaurants (even Indian food!), an indoor fantasy park, museums, and rides.
The weather up here is much cooler due to the high altitude, and the fog and clouds sometimes cover the views — but honestly, that just makes the place feel even more dreamy.
Finally, I visited Ba Na Hills’ most iconic attraction — the Golden Bridge.
You’ve probably seen this bridge all over Instagram and reels. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t fully clear today, so I missed the complete scenic view. Still, standing on the bridge surrounded by clouds, cold air, and massive stone hands was a surreal experience. Despite the crowd, the vibe was amazing.
Overall, Ba Na Hills is a massive, artificially constructed tourist destination on top of the mountains — unique, beautiful, and truly mind-blowing.
