Today we’re taking the term Made In China to a new level with an airliner! In 2015, the relatively small Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac began manufacturing the C919, our aircraft of interest! It isn’t even approved to fly in the US! It was not until 2023 when it officially came out and entered service with China Eastern as a launch customer. All of China’s flagships operate a small number of C919s, so how did China do at building and operating a whole aircraft type?! Is the C919 even safe?!
