Howdy, I'm Frito, and I'm doing a challenge in which I must defeat as many SIlksong bosses as possible without landing on the floor (excluding scream stuns), clinging to a wall, or using Silk Skills. Oh, and it's gotta be done hitless, too. I'll be posting my wins in the order I achieve them. For my build, I'll be using the Shaman Crest with Longclaw, Snitch Pick, Sawtooth Circlet, and the Weighted Belt (Bracelet and Dice are cheap).
Mods (No Thunderstore links yet due to the verification thingy):
Pantheon Of Pharloom, by momochi003 - Enables boss refights
ShowDamageHealthBar, by XiaohaiMod - Displays boss health
DebugMod, by hk_speedrunning - Not actively being used, just there in case something needs testing or something goes wrong
1 in 10000 Chance for Withered Foxy Jumpscare Every Second, by Nitefury - Why not, maybe he'll show up in a winning run
SkipKarmelitaArena by randomscorp - Removes most pre-boss arenas, used to make practicing easier, I'll do one run with and one run without this mod for the bosses it works on
I still can't believe I pulled this off. I thought they would be impossible when I first thought about doing this challenge. Like Karmelita, I had an earlier run where I got incredibly close to winning, with Gron being dead and Signis being at 24 HP, but a poorly timed Signis leap put a stop to that. I'm not sure which fight took the most time/attempts, but this one might take the cake. I had to adapt my strategy several times throughout, in particular my strategy for dealing with Gron. I had to kill him first, since a third lava pillar begins to appear in the center of the arena after the first brother dies. First I tried fighting him in the air, but then I learned how pogos interact with his jumping patterns, which completely flipped this fight on its head. My new strategy of alternating between pogos and the three-hit Clawline eventually got me to this attempt, in which I managed to keep him effectively grounded throughout the entire encounter. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, just keeping him grounded was difficult enough, what with Signis constantly breaking my tempo and creating openings for Gron to take to the skies. But on the other hand, fighting Gron in the air was exhilarating and it led to some really cool moments in many unsuccessful attempts. Like the arena bosses, I might redo this one in the future, in which I would avoid relying completely on the alternating pogo strat. I can't ban it entirely because of how unavoidable it can be to do accidentally, kinda like the Skull Tyrant situation. This fight was ludicrously difficult, it honestly might've been harder than doing RadHoG in the first Hollow Knight. It was certainly harder than any individual Radiant boss from that game. I'm never doing this one with black-threaded enemies.
